ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Nicolle

Welcome to my corner of the web! Lover of adventure ✈️, animals 🐘and bakery treats 🍰

In a nutshell

I was born and raised in the UK – where I currently work full time for our national health service. I started my first proper trip at the age of 18, and have never looked back. To this day I continue to plan varying different trips that may captivate your interest! Whilst I am not a professional photographer, my picture-taking abilities have been improving. So please bear with me whilst I continue to develop skills the behind the camera!

Some random facts about me – Giraffe’s are one of my all time favourite animals, I am a huge dessert lover, and from time to time I like to dye my hair a different colour!

So keep your eyes peeled for the change in hair colour in different posts!

A little more about me

I have a vast experience of planning, budgeting, and discovering enchanting destinations. Whether it’s organising backpacking adventures, planning a dream holiday, or exploring both local and international landscapes, I have done a bit of everything. I plan and research all of my trips, financing them through my personal savings. Irrespective of the transportation options, the intended destination, or the time of year, every trip brings unique unforgettable experiences.

I’m a genuine individual, rather than an influencer, and I create all my blog posts with everyday individuals in mind, seeking genuine and practical travel information. You’ll find itineraries and ‘top things to do’ in places I’ve visited and posts featuring bucket list experiences.

As I write from my home base in Yorkshire, UK, I am pleased to share both wisdom and the tales of my thrilling adventures. Whilst, also providing you with valuable insights on undertaking these journeys yourself independently.

Prepare to be inspired as we venture into uncharted territories and equip you with practical knowledge to curate your own remarkable travel experiences.

A little about the blog

Let me give you a brief overview of what to expect when perusing evermoreexploring – a diverse range of content covering various aspects, so basically a mix of everything! Although I have visited a lot of places already – I still have a bucket list to work through therefore you will find a variety of content for different continents.

I like to focus on value for money – looking at which trips or activities offer the best experience for the best price. This doesn’t mean I do things on the cheap or super expensive either. It just means enriching the experiences you do have. Sometimes I will use couchsurfing – staying with locals can provide invaluable insights and really helps the pocket when you are low on money, similarly staying in hostels and using their facilities to make meals allows you to reserve money for more expensive activities. Other times I will book a nicer hotel (because, sometimes, my partner persuades me this is a good idea!) I’m more about the budget and he is more about the luxury, therefore we often compromise and stay in both cheaper and more expensive accommodation in one place!

You’ll find a mix of UK getaways, European city breaks, backpacker adventures, road trips, solo trips, hiking adventures and much more! Explore the diverse range of this blog and discover exciting adventures that could capture your interest. Benefit from my mistakes, uncover hidden gems, adopt my trip-planning strategies, as you delve into planning the trip of a lifetime.

So, what do you want to know?

I never know what people hope to read in these ‘about me’ pages, so here goes...

I was born in the UK and growing up I regularly went on holiday every year with my family. This usually involved a trip somewhere in Europe as well as various parts of the UK. Occasionally we went further afield but as my parents didn’t enjoy long flights I felt I was missing out on various other parts of the world – likely spiking my interest in exploring and traveling further afield.

I was very keen to start earning money from a young age – therefore my first job was a paper round at the age of 13, although, I definitely would have started this earlier if age wasn’t an issue! As soon as I turned 16 – I started applying for various jobs and landed both a waitressing job and a part-time contract with a local supermarket. Little did I know I would continue to work at this supermarket on and off for the next 8 years!

At the age of 17, whilst I was at college, my first great opportunity for seeing the world arose. A 3 week (very expensive) trip to South Africa. I was desperate to go and started pooling all the money I had to try and afford this trip. Several (and several) extra shifts later – I had enough money and secured myself a place on the trip. It was AMAZING!

Once I had finished school at the age of 18, I never knew what I wanted to do, therefore I took a gap year and returned to South Africa for a couple of months. I volunteered to work in an orphanage and used my days off to explore the surrounding areas. This gave me the confidence to start planning further solo trips not part of a volunteer program. I figured if I can go to Africa, other countries should be a walk in the park!

I applied to go to university, and enjoyed making new friends and settled back into studying life. Half way through the course we were given 4 months off – a perfect opportunity to go exploring again. I was initially downhearted after asking some friends if they would like to join me on a trip (they couldn’t afford it, or maybe they were just sparing my feelings!) so I booked a solo flight to America. The next day I panicked and thought ‘how am I going to navigate America by myself’. It ended up being an absolutely brilliant trip, and not sure why I ever doubted myself!

In 2017, I graduated from university and had already secured my first job within the national health service starting a few months later. By this time I had already had some amazing travel experiences — volunteering in Johannesburg, South Africa, several trips to Europe and backpacking for several months across America. I was looking forward to my next big solo trip – Australia before starting full time work.

When I finally started my job, which I settled into quickly and really enjoyed, – I knew I would need to plan my trips carefully. With 6 weeks holidays a year – it enabled a couple of great trips but required careful planning to make the most of my time off. This might not come as a surprise but I quickly realised at this point as much as I loved exploring the world, I wouldn’t be able to give up my career and stability either. I then had two goals in life – to have a successful career in my home town and to see as much of the world as possible.

I then met my current partner- Josh, who although hadn’t seen much of the world, he quickly developed a similar passion for traveling (luckily, or it might have been over very quickly if not!). We took time off work to explore South and Central America. More often than not these days we travel together, rather than me doing a solo trip. It is these trips that have inspired me to make my blog public. I have always documented my trips privately and on personal social media accounts but on return from my most recent trip – Panama, I decided to start a travel blog to share my passion for travel with the world. I often get asked for travel ideas, itineraries and about my own experiences and I thought why not put all this in one place where everyone can benefit from my experiences and research.

So like me, you may not be in a position to travel full time, or may not want to give up the stability of day to day life but this blog is to prove to you that it is still possible to have your own adventures, see the world and make once in a lifetime memories.
